Freezing Rain, Snow Prompt Winter Weather Advisory For Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Fairfield County until 7 p.m. Monday due to freezing rain and snow expected this afternoon and evening.

A brief period of freezing rain is expected for an hour or two before quickly transitioning to sleet and snow, according to the National Weather Service. The freezing rain is expected to impact the evening commute, and a light glaze of ice is expected.

While total snow accumulation will be minimal, cold ground temperatures will result in icy roads, particularly on untreated surfaces. Be prepared for slippery roads and use caution while driving.
